ANAPHYLACTIC
SHOCK
Without warning your
goat can have a drug reaction from an antibiotic injection or a
vaccine such as Tetanus, C&D or an Antitoxin. Symptoms range
from difficult breathing, collapse, seizures, severe distress and
death. Your best protection is to always have a little bottle of
Epinephrine (#21M) in your back pocket at shot time. A simple 1-cc
SubQ injection can quickly save a life. Is there anything you can d
if you don't have Epinephrine? Well, I've had folks tell me that
they were successful in reviving their goat administering a liquid
antihistamine. My advice: have the Epinephrine on hand. It's
inexpensive insurance the trauma of standing helplessly by while
your goat loses its life.
